Lure Coursing
Members-only lure meetings are regularly held in Surrey. These are run under the following class criteria and open to KC-registered and rescue Salukis.
Trial 1 - For all KC Registered* Salukis
Class 1 For dogs/bitches aged between 18 and 24 months (younger hounds not accepted)
Class 2 For dogs/bitches aged 2 – 6 years old
Class 3 Veterans aged between 7 – 9 years (older hounds accepted if deemed fit enough by their owners)
Trial 2 - For Non-KC Registered* Salukis
Class 4 For dogs/bitches aged between 18 and 24 months (younger hounds not accepted)
Class 5 For dogs/bitches aged 2 – 6 years old
Class 6 Veterans aged between 7 – 9 years (older hounds will be accepted if deemed fit enough by their owners)
* KC Registration - the hound must be on the Breed Register.
All hounds run at owners own risk.
Running format dependent on weather and ground conditions. Points will be awarded by the judges for speed, endurance and ability. A winner will be declared for each class as well as a Best in Field for each Trial.
UK Sighthound Sport holds three Lure Coursing events per year. All competing dogs must first obtain a licence. Please see their website for details.
The SGHC will also be holding Open Lure Coursing events which are open to all registered Salukis with a UKSS Licence.
